The director of the two previous films, Paul King, decided not to direct this installment
Scenario
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Bear Retirement Home. With the Brown family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues as the mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. However, he came up with the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer.
I love Paddington 1 and 2
Starring Graham Norton and the Movies: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharrell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024). I always knew that with a different director, different setting and plot and stuff, the third film in the series would be unique. This movie had three problems for me.
The first is a bland script
I couldn’t connect with the movie and the reason was bad script. The magic of the franchise that was always visible and used in the first two is irrelevant. And because of the wholesome feeling you don’t feel, the lack of charm, the movie absolutely kills it.
The second movie was the best, from Hugh Grant’s excellent acting to the good foreshadowing and character development, this movie doesn’t even come close to those levels
The third problem is the lack of character development, the way the characters were developed in the first and second movies is great and excellent and while it’s hard to do that with this movie, it was still weak. Sally Hawkins is not in this movie and it’s a big loss, although Emily Mortimer does a good job with the what she has is sorely lacking and she could do better with this film. This movie has some amazing moments, from the iconic view, to the plot twist, I’d say it has its good moments, I pick out the bad parts from this movie, nevertheless it’s decent.
There are some beautiful sequences that will take your breath away
If you follow the franchise and have seen the first two, it’s different and unique, but well worth checking out. 7.9/10 for me.
